Evening of Greek Gastronomy at the University Club of Washington, D.C.

It was an evening of state-of-the-art Greek Gastronomy, Thursday October 17, at the University Club of Washington, D.C., where, with the support of the Embassy of Greece, 150 distinguished members of the Club, from the academic, social, business and media elite of the American capital, experienced Greek culinary delights in a sold-out private dinner.

Ambassador Panagopoulos spoke of Greece of the crisis but also of Greece of production, economic possibilities, tourism and culture. He presented Greek chef Katerina Stai - Failadis, who planned and prepared the delicacies of the evening, using Greek products like olive oil, honey, feta cheese, Greek yogurt, kalamata olives and mastiha. The traditional recipes, enhanced by a modern touch and presentation, always in line with the healthy Greek diet, marveled all guests.

The warm atmosphere of the evening was complemented by traditional Cretan dances performed by Greek students from Washington universities. Gift bags with Greek products and tourist information were offered to all guests.

The planning, organizing and communication of the event were handled by the Economic and Commercial Office and the Press and Communication Office of the Embassy of Greece.
